Process

Once a commission comes up in the queue, I will notify the commissioner and work will begin. At the end of each step, I check in to approve the progress before continuing to ensure the customer is happy with the current completion. Once a piece has been given clearance to proceed, major revisions to the previous step will no longer be permitted. Please note that revisions are limited to two changes per stage.Note: The process pictures below are examples of what to expect at each stage, but may not accurately represent each individualized commission.

Step I - Pose SketchingComposition and anatomy. I will work out the basic pose of all figures. If a piece is not too complex, all details may be included on the first pass.

Step II - Sketching DetailsAny remaining details that need to be drawn will be added in this stage. Clothes, hair, armor, etc.Note: Not all pieces will have two sketching steps, and this varies depending on the complexity of the pieces or if adjustments are required from the original sketch.

Step III - Refining Lines & BackgroundLines will be refined and cleaned up, or redrawn over the sketch. My process varies from piece to piece depending on which method yields the best results.Optional Step 3.5:Backgrounds are typically added after Step III. If the commissioner paid for an SP background, an additional approval stage will be added before continuing.

Step IV - Colors, Shading and LightingColors, shading, and lighting are the final stage. Last-minute changes or small adjustments would be made at this step.

Final ReviewAfter any adjustments are made, I always check to ensure my commissioner is satisfied and happy with their piece. When the art is completed, the queue is updated to represent completion!
